Following sessions all day Tuesday and Wednesday forenoon, the Cherokee school board let the contracts for the erection of the new school building. The general contract was let to Payant & Bass of Fairbault, Minnesota, for $67,805. These gentlemen have just completed a fine $115,000 school house in their home town. They are widely known in Minnesota having done a great deal of work for the state.They have contracted to have the building completed by August 15, 1916... -

Detour on U.S. 59 (Local News ~ 08/21/15)
Intersection reconstruction work will require the closing U.S. 59 at the west junction of U.S. 20 near Holstein, in Ida County, at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's District 3 office. Pundits and pols want to sear into the American psyche a warning that if we don't destroy ISIS over there (meaning in Iraq, Syria and other Middle East countries) they will come here. We can only speculate on how that will be accomplished. The most direct approach would be to load millions of ISIS operatives onto tens of thousands of jumbo jets in ISIS - controlled territory and fly over to America, presumably during a slow air traffic time, so as to maintain an element of surprise...
