Lobbyists funded by the fossil fuel industry have been conducting a concerted effort since the beginning of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to portray ethanol as bad for the environment. This effort was stepped up prior to the Iowa caucuses. A combination of these attacks and falling fossil fuel prices will quite likely doom the RFS in the future...
