Ida County’s Freedom Rock (Local News ~ 07/07/17)

WHS SB finishes regular season (High School Sports ~ 07/07/17)
The Cherokee girls finsihed their regular varsity softball season last week, splitting a pair of Lakes Conference contests. The Braves traveled to Spencer and came up short in the contest, loisng by a score of 6-1. The Braves struck first and scored their only run in the 2nd inning when Apryl Mesler doubled, scoring Josie Kindwall, who had reached on error earlier in the inning. The Braves were limited to just four hits on the night. Lindsay Williams doubled off the left field fence in the top of the first inning and Paityn Hagberg singled twice during the game. Pitcher Lindsay Williams allowed just six hits and struck out five on the night. . ... -
Raptors fall to Sioux City West

Sioux City West jumped out to an 8-0 lead through the top of the 3rd inning in non conference baseball action with Ridge View. Ridge View responded with four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and the score remained 8-4 until West pushed an insurance run across in the top of the 7th for the final 9-4 outcome...

The Ridge View Softball Team had a rough weekend of softball playing in the Western Conference Tournament Friday and then competing in the Storm Lake Softball Classic on Saturday. On Friday night, Ridge View competed in the semifinals of the Western Valley Conference Tournament at Galva, and the Raptors came up on the short end of a tough game, losing to Woodbury Central by the score of 5-3. ...

STORM LAKE - The Alta-Aurelia girls won one and lost one Saturday at the tough Storm Lake Classic softball tournament, beating Sergeant Bluff-Luton 7-4 and losing to Bishop Heelan of Sioux City, 11-1, in four innings. Against SB-L, Sgt. Bluff scored all four of its runs in the 3rd inning to overcome a 3-0 Warrior lead, but Alta-Aurelia scored three in the top of the 4th inning to regain the lead, then added another run in the 5th. ... -
