As I forlornly watch my fellow men and fellow women dance the jig of the Politically Correct while slowly eradicating the proud and noble Cherokee Brave?s head from the halls and athletic teams of Washington High School, I ache for the ancient times when common sense and intestinal fortitude were coveted virtues and noQuietly, the past year or two, the noble Braves head has been removed from the cQuietly, the proud and noble Braves head has been removed from the Braves? football helmets, replaced by a frilly lance and feathers decal just like that of teams ranging from the Whiting Warriors, to the Florida State Seminoles, to the WasSay what? Donald Trump defended at least some of those who came to Charlottesville, Va., to protest the Charlottesville City Council’s decision to remove a statue of Robert E. Lee from a city park. Safety urged in viewing eclipse (Local News ~ 08/18/17)
The sun will be about 95 percent covered by the moon on Monday, Aug. 21 at 1:02 p.m. in Cherokee, according to Linda Burkhart, director of the Sanford Museum and Planetarium. The museum is hosting a solar eclipse event. Burkhart warned that viewing the sun directly with the naked eye is not safe. Sam Kooiker, the Cherokee City Administrator, was appointed to the Iowa State Civil Rights Committee by Governor Kim Reynolds on July 13.
