Freedom Rock a County gem

We hope as many area residents as possible made an attempt to attend Sunday’s dedication of the Cherokee Freedom Rock at the County Courthouse in Cherokee. The amazing military monument located in a perfect setting in front of the courthouse is a marvelous tribute to our military veterans, the dedicated volunteers who located and moved the huge stone to its rightful place, to all those contributing to defray the expenses involved in the laborious task, and to Iowa artist Bubba Sorensen and his incredible talents to conceive and paint the rock in such stunning, appropriate, historic fashion.. ...

German Feast to be held in Aurelia (Local News ~ 09/13/17)
A German feast will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Aurelia Community Center, 235 Main St., Aurelia. The dinner is a fund-raiser sponsored by the Hanover Historical Society. AURELIA - The plucky young Alta-Aurelia Warriors hung in there and gave defending state champion Hull Western Christian all they could handle here in District football action at Valor Field Friday before falling to the Wolfpack by a score of 36-27. PAULLINA - South O’Brien hosted the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks Friday night in Paullina in their opening game of district play, and the HMS Hawks came out on top, 27-14.
