Lanna Kaye (Corrington) Niebuhr, age 70, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 5, 2017 in Adel, Iowa. Lanna was born, the youngest of three children to Leo (Jinx) and Bonnie Corrington on January 12, 1947 in Cherokee, Iowa. She was raised in rural Aurelia and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1965. Lanna married her high school sweetheart, James Niebuhr, on December 18, 1966, and they were blessed with four children... -
Downsizing

I have been concentrating on downsizing the children’s department easy reading story books and non-fiction to make room for all the new books we have added to our collection. I believe that all the new material is interesting, fun, educational, and stimulating. We needed to freshen up the bins and shelves. It looks pretty good on the top floor. ARMSTRONG - South O’Brien traveled to Armstrong Friday to take on North Union, and the final score showed the Wolverines driving away with their second consecutive win, 33-0. South O’Brien took the ball on the opening kickoff and ended up with good field position. Four plays later Senior Carson Louscher snuck in the end zone on a 1 yard run. Braves’ Volleyball ends regular season; start tourney play Wednesday

The Cherokee volleyball team played their final Saturday tournament of the season at Storm Lake on October 14, and the Braves went 4-1 on the day, bringing their regular season record to 22-10. Cherokee beat Storm Lake 2-0, Kingsley Pierson 2-0, Estherville-Lincoln Central 2-1, and Spirit Lake 2-1. After beating Spirit Lake in pool play, the Braves played the Indians again in the championship match and lost 1-2. ...

Cherokee PTA will host a Fun Run for their Fall Fundraiser

The Cherokee PTA has teamed up with students at Roosevelt Elementary School to participate in a Spooky Stride on October 31, 2017. This will be a fun time for kids to parade around in their Halloween costumes. We are asking people to join in our stride or park on the route and watch this event.
