New Highway 3 by-pass signs proposed (Local News ~ 11/06/17)
Cherokee City officials are assisting Mayor Mark Murphy with his goal of installing a new sign for westbound traffic at the east entrance of Cherokee on Iowa Highway 3 just before the by-pass route. John Snapp, a Cherokee historian and railroad history buff from his career working for the railroad, was totally on track when greeting the CN Business Train passing through Cherokee Oct. 24. The Canadian National Railroad spiffy business pasenger train originated from Sioux City enroute to Chicago and went as far as Dubuque the first day, passing through Cherokee in early morning. The train overnighted in Dubuque and continued on to Chicago the following day...
