The Cherokee - East Sac County basketball games, postponed on December 21st, have been rescheduled for Monday, February 5th. The games will be at Washington High School, varsity only, with the girls’ game starting at 6 p.m.

MMCRU Dance Team headed to Outback Bowl (Local News ~ 12/29/17)
Imagine it, a chance to dance in front of the entire country. That is exactly what the dance team from MMCRU will get to experience over Christmas break. The team of 10 dancers, along with their coach Kayla Schroeder, will travel to Tampa, Florida Dec. 28-Jan. 3 to perform at the pre-game and halftime shows of the 2018 Outback Bowl. “I am most excited to share this once in a lifetime opportunity with my dancers,” Schroeder said. “I believe performing during the bowl game will be a memory they will never forget.”... -

As Old Man Winter blasts us with rain, ice, snow, wind and cold temperatures, it’s time to think about the dedication to duty of our street and road crews, utility workers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, and emergency responders. As winter pelts us it’s nice to know that our capable city street, county and state highway road crews are prepared to work long and hard hours in very difficult and dangerous conditions day and night to keep us safe and make transportation possible...

Supervisors approve Airport Amendment

In an abbreviated, holiday-time meeting Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors approved an Amendment to the Cherokee Aviation Authority 28E Agreement. The Amendment #4 reads: “On May 14, 2004, Cherokee County, Iowa and the City of Cherokee, Iowa entered into an agreement creating the Cherokee Aviation Authority. The parameters of the late Dr. John W. Dewar Scholarship Fund, established in 1992, were determined in the will of the late Lois M. Dewar. The funds are administered by Central Bank.
