Burdette C. Stief, age 93, of Jordan, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. Burdette was born on March 23, 1924, in Aurelia, IA to Albert John and Ella Marie (Stabelfeld) Stief. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, entered the US Army, and was a decorated WWII veteran. As the years quickly pass, memories of our high school days can become a bit cloudy. Some of us get better with age. At what, I'm not sure? But looking back, much to my surprise, even yours truly wasn't near as good as he thought he was. Statistics can crush an ego. In most cases, the proofs in the pudding as statistics reveal some pretty good stories.
