Property valuation appeals now underway

County Assessor Greg Zarr and Brian Leinen of Vanguard Appraisals were at last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting to provide information on the 2018 Property Revaluations. Vanguard, from Cedar Rapids, was hired by the County to assist the Assessor with the revaluations program completed in December 2017, with notices mailed out to property owners this past February. The aged structure in serious disrepair was purchased by the Cook Law Firm brothers several years ago to avoid a repeat of its former existence as a bar located adjacent to the Law Firm. In essence, the Cooks were tired of accepting the ongoing vandalism and trash from some of the bar’s customers impacting their neighboring property...
