Summer is here and in full blast! I don’t understand why weather has to go above 90 degrees. What is the point in that? All you’re doing is making us sweat and killing plants. Come on, Mother Nature, get it together. It’s a big month for the Cherokee Public Library as it is the start of Summer Reading! The Alta-Aurelia Warriors dropped a 4-0 non-conference game at Hinton May 31st for their first loss of the season, but rebounded the following night with a 8-5 Twin Lakes Conference win over East Sac County in Alta. Hinton got all four of the game’s runs Thursday in the bottom of the first inning thanks to four walks issued by the Warriors’ starting hurler, Logan McCoy. The Marcus Meriden-Cleghorn Remsen Union baseball team split a pair of games last week. On Tuesday May 29th, the South O’Brien softball team had two big innings to score 15 of their 18 runs in an 18-4 win over MMCRU. The Wolverines scored six runs in the second inning thanks doubles by Bailey Tjossem and Gabby Heeren , three walks, and a deep sacrifice fly by Sydney Struve. The Ridge View softball team had a busy weekend. On Friday, the Raptors hosted Lawton-Bronson in a Western Valley Conference action and the Raptors won by the score of 16-4 in four innings. Picking up the win for the Raptors was Katie Binkman. who threw all four innings giving up six hits and one earned run, while striking out no one and walking four Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors were Beth Meyer, who went 2-3 with five RBI, Kennedy Mason, who was 2-3 with four RBI, Madeline Else, who went 3-4 and scored three runs. ...
