The friends of the Lily of the Valley one room school house, located on Highway 3 bypass on AEA grounds, thank the many individuals and business of Cherokee for their generous contributions during the 2017 fundraiser. These monies made possible some much-needed renovations toward the preservation of this historic building. It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Lou Ades, longtime Cherokee resident, announces her passing on July 13, 2018, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As per her wishes, Iowa Cremation was entrusted with her cremation. Her family invites family and friends to a celebration of Linda's life on September 30, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 at Spring Lake Yacht Club, Cherokee, IA. A family service will be held at a later date. Interment at Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, IA. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her children Laurie (Bill) Bark, Brad Ades, David (Michael Eye) Ades, and John (Pam) Ades; her grandchildren Gabe (Jenni) Bark, Travis (Sara) Bark, Molly (Pat Dickes) Ades, Nick Praster and Ben Praster; her great-grandchildren Tyler, Finley, Abby, Keigan, Wyatt and Quincy. She is also survived by Carl and Wilma Ades, Art and Carol Ades, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her husband, Richard, preceded her in death, as well as her parents and siblings. Linda was born Linda Lou Keigan on June 21, 1933 to Benjamin and Ina Keigan, the fifth of five children, in Webster City, IA. She graduated from Litchfield High School, Litchfield, MN at the age of 16. She then attended Minnesota Bible College where she was a member of a vocal trio that traveled the Midwest. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Richard Ades. Through 53 years of marriage, Linda and Dick raised their children and loved life. ... -

As we regularly bugged new CAEDC Director Bill Anderson and former interim Director John Comstock for any news on the matter, all they would say is “We have interest in the plant. We’ll keep you posted.”...
