Eighty-one new garland pole wraps and 162 red bows have been purchased for this year’s Christmas decorations in Cherokee. The previous wraps were purchased in 2006 and were on display for 12 seasons. Over time the garland developed bare spots and became tired looking. The new garland is lit with LED lights, making them more energy efficient and saving future maintenance expense... -

The Community of Christ Church of Cherokee is planning on holding its fourth annual display of Nativity scenes this year. For the past too many years watching hundreds of high school basketball games, I can’t comprehend how and why so many players miss easy close-in shots and too often can’t even make a lay-up or a put-back. Boys, girls, it doesn’t matter. The chart in my head tells me the odds of a miss of those easiest shots in the game are much greater than a make. No doubt about it. Watch the games. Watch the film...
