In 2019, the O’Brien County Conservation Board will be hosting a monthly Nature’s Art series to engage people of all ages in looking at nature through an artistic lens. The O’Brien County Conservation Board is offering a number of opportunities this summer to for youth to get outdoors and explore! Cherokee Police and area law enforcement agencies are aware of many telephone scams preying on residents throughout the Cherokee area. Among those scams is one seeking your Social Security information while claiming your SS number has been “compromised” and they want to fix it. Fake fundraiser scams are also popular with the callers falsely identfying themselves as with a law emforcement, agency or local business or organization. Rightfully so, the Cherokee area has been buzzing about the expansive new Cherokee Bomgaars Store now located in the former KMart building on North 2nd Street. Bomgaars purchased the KMart property in January 2018, aware of the future closing of all KMarts nation wide. Last week Bomgaars completed the move across the street from their former location and now proudly offer shoppers a shiny new 40,000 square foot store. The old Bomgaars featured 25,000 square feet of retail space...

PAULLINA - MMCRU’s boys and South O’Brien’s girls collected win in a split between these two area teams here Monday. In the girls’ contest, Class 1A, 12th ranked SOS battled hard to log a 7-5 win over a gritty and determined MMCRU Royals club. MMCRU held on to a 4-2 lead after scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning. But the talented Wolverines battle back with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to break a 5-5 time and pocketed the hard earned victory...
