Relief funds for County businesses

To date, 18 Cherokee County businesses have benefited from the Iowa Small Business Relief Program that provides financial assistance to small businesses that have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program offers eligible small businesses grants ranging from $5,000-$25,000 in addition to offering Iowa businesses a deferral of sales and use or withholding taxes due and waiver of penalty and interest. WITCC TRIO-Student of the Month (Local News ~ 05/01/20)
Samuel Onchonga has received the WITCC TRIO-Student Support Services Achiever of the Month Award for May. This award recognizes Western Iowa Tech TRIO students for demonstrating qualities of leadership and citizenship while achieving collegiate academic success. Originally from Kenya, Samuel moved to Cherokee to begin the Nursing program at WITCC in August 2018. He has become an active member of the TRIO program, participating in many of the student activities and workshops. Along with his studies, Samuel works at Accura HealthCare of Cherokee. This month he will be graduating with his Practical Nursing Diploma. He plans to continue on in WITCC’s Nursing program to become a Registered Nurse next year. ... -
