The trappings of the beautiful Cherokee County Fairgrounds have served to attract some wild game and those who pursue it this weekend, as Cherokee hosts the annual Iowa Trappers Association (ITA) Convention today and Saturday. We wish the City and DNR well in the scheduled fish kill in Spring Lake next month. While we understand the necessity to enhance popular game fish, improve water quality and habitat, and rid the lake of undesirable predatory “trash” fish, we also wonder why there isn’t a better way than to simply chemically slaughter all the fish - good and bad - to make way for the chosen ones...
