Cherokee hosts Iowa Trappers Convention this weekend (Local News ~ 09/11/20)
The trappings of the beautiful Cherokee County Fairgrounds have served to attract some wild game and those who pursue it this weekend, as Cherokee hosts the annual Iowa Trappers Association (ITA) Convention today and Saturday. Hundreds of Iowa trappers and their families, along with a dozen vendors/dealers and interested onlookers will be on hand to showcase the why-where-when wares of the trapping industry that compels thousands of like-minded sportsmen to tread the great outdoors serving a purpose ultimately benefiting both wildlife and mankind with a few morsels on the table and cash profit on the side.. ... -

We wish the City and DNR well in the scheduled fish kill in Spring Lake next month. While we understand the necessity to enhance popular game fish, improve water quality and habitat, and rid the lake of undesirable predatory “trash” fish, we also wonder why there isn’t a better way than to simply chemically slaughter all the fish - good and bad - to make way for the chosen ones...

MILFORD — With two in the top three, the MMCRU boys cross country team finished third out of 13 complete teams at the Okoboji Cross Country Invite held at Woodlyn Hills Golf Course on Thursday.
