New reporter at Chronicle Times

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

By Nancy Hohbach

Regular readers of the Chronicle Times may have noticed a number of recent photo credits by Nancy Nelson. It may be confusing what Nancy Nelson that is or if a goof has been made on Hohbach's last name.

There are four Nancy Nelsons in Cherokee County that we know of.

This Nancy Nelson is replacing the retiring Nancy Hohbach as the Chronicle Times social editor/reporter.

For some personal information of Chronicle Times newest reporter, she is married to Barry Nelson, a native of Cherokee, who is employed by a Rehab Systems, Inc. a subsidiary of Lundell Construction. The couple has three children: Brian, age nine; Benjamin, age five, and three-year old Annalie.

Nelson refers to herself as an "Army brat". She was born in Pennsylvania but graduated from high school in Weston, Mo. located between St. Joseph and Kansas City. After high school, she met her husband at college. Both graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman.

Nelson earned her bachelor degree in Horticulture Science and her husband earned his degree in Range Science.

Interestingly enough, they were the first couple to be married in the huge pole barn at Silver Sioux Park south of Cherokee. They moved here in 1994.

Nelson has worked at a variety of places, including Cherokee County Community Health and providing day care in their home.

She likes talking and working with people, plus writing. With those qualifications, she is welcomed into the Chronicle Times family.
