In a recent meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Cherokee announced its Washington High School Student of the Month, Jared Koch. Jared, a senior at Washington High, is the son of Deb and Scott Koch. As a student Koch demonstrates leadership through his participation is baseball, football and basketball. Jared is an accomplished athlete as evidenced by earning All-District honors in baseball for the past two seasons and All-District football this year. When not attending classes at WHS, he does volunteer work for the Knights of Columbus, youth football and baseball camps and serves his church as an acolyte. In the fall Jared plans to enroll in a junior college and hopes to play baseball. Gasoline prices and our country's energy needs are concerns that Jared believes need priority attention.
Students selected for the "Kiwanis Student of the Month" Award must demonstrate good academic effort, attend school regularly, and be considerate of others. The purpose of the recognition is to support students who show good potential as future leaders and will work for the betterment of communities through service to others.
