K of C Student of the Month

The Knights of Columbus council #1722 Cherokee, are pleased to announce that the "Student of the Month" for April is Julie Gerjets. She is the daughter of Brian and Alma Gerjets of Cherokee.

Julie has been very active in the Church, Community and School. Gerjets and her family are members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, where she is an active member of the Choir, Youth group, CCD, Monthly Church Cantor, Wedding and Funeral Soloist.

In the Community she works for Schroeder Pottery of Cherokee and is very active in the Community Theatre, Math/English Tutor for non-English speaking Hispanic Students. She also is an active member of the Cherokee County Young Republicans.

At Washington High School Gerjets is a very active student and is ranked as one of the top students in her class. She is involved in Vocal music, Soloist for School functions, JV Tennis, Art Club, Spanish Club, Speech Club, Show Choir, Thespian Society and National Forensics League.

Gerjets plans on attending Central College in Pella this fall and pursue a major in Spanish. While at Central College she will take pharmaceutical related classes as well as participate in Choir, Art and Theatre. She plans on transferring to Drake to continue her education in Pharmacy.

The Knights of Columbus would like to congratulate Julie Gerjets for all her activities and accomplishments to be chosen as the "Student of the Month".
