Allison Holbrook hailed as RV's reader

It was great while it lasted but unfortunately, those halcyon days of summer have come to an end.

With a great deal of moaning and groaning and a sigh of resignation or two, our area's students have hoisted their weighty text book-type tomes and trudged off to school for the new academic year.

Luckily, this period of post-homework depression is alleviated somewhat with the announcement that Allison Holbrook has been singled out for the honors as the River Valley September Reader of the Month.

This brand new school year finds Allison holding down a desk front and center in the fourth grade classroom at RV Elementary.

Although she hasn't zeroed in on a preferred subject as yet, Allison does admit that Mrs. Fuhrman rates pretty close to the top of her list of favorite teachers.

It is no great surprise to discover this reader visiting the library on an given school day, mainly because she considers it a great place to both read or think.

Whenever Allison leaves the library, she is generally loaded down with an armload of some pretty exciting tales.

High on her reading list are the Junie B. Jones, the Princess Diaries, Amber Brown and Princess School series of books.

If you happen to have an opportunity to take a look at Allison's list of favorite hobbies and pastimes, you will discover that splashing around in the nearest swimming pool and kicking up her heels at Diane's School of Dance really ring the bell on her having fun meter.

It's also a well known fact that this RV reader is an astute bargain hunter who absolutely loves to shop till she drops.

As if all this wasn't enough to keep her busy, Allison is an active member in her Awanas club.

As far as her future plans are concerned, this is one young student who believes on passing on the torch. She hopes to one day go to college and become a preschool teacher.

Until that day arrives for her to hand out lessons in her own classroom, however, Allison Holbrook can be found at her home over on Fifth Street in Correctionville, an abode she shares with her folks...John and Jeni, and her kid sister Megan.
