With a great deal of moaning and groaning and a sigh of resignation or two, our area's students have hoisted their weighty text book-type tomes and trudged off to school for the new academic year.
Luckily, this period of post-homework depression is alleviated somewhat with the announcement that Allison Holbrook has been singled out for the honors as the River Valley September Reader of the Month.
This brand new school year finds Allison holding down a desk front and center in the fourth grade classroom at RV Elementary.
Although she hasn't zeroed in on a preferred subject as yet, Allison does admit that Mrs. Fuhrman rates pretty close to the top of her list of favorite teachers.

As if all this wasn't enough to keep her busy, Allison is an active member in her Awanas club.
As far as her future plans are concerned, this is one young student who believes on passing on the torch. She hopes to one day go to college and become a preschool teacher.
