Cherokee citizens will have an opportunity to hear candidates for city offices during a forum sponsored by the Chronicle Times on Sunday, Oct. 30, moderated by Paul Struck, Chronicle Times editor.
The eight candidates for three city offices have been invited to the forum which begins at 2 p.m. at the Washington High School Auditorium.
The candidates will give introductory comments, followed by questions presented by Struck.
Cherokee citizens are invited to drop off questions at the Chronicle Times office, mail them to The Chronicle Times, P.O. Box 1084, Cherokee IA, 51012, or email to email@example.com. After business hours, questions can be put in the slot north of the door.
The questions can be addressed to mayoral candidates, city council candidates or all candidates. The questions do not need to be signed by the people submitting them.
The questions will be pre-screened and some may not be used because of redundancy, irrelevancy to city government issues or time constraints.
The forum will be restricted to a maximum of two hours in length.
Mayor candidates include Dennis Henrich (incumbent), Dan Morrow and John Woods.
Candidates for the at-large city council seat include Mick Mallory, Shane Sauer and Douglas Gene Streeter.
Candidates for the ward 2 seat include Frank Escue and Robert Leach.
Please note that Oct. 30 is the first day that we are off of daylight savings time.
