The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to restrict smoking 25 feet from the south, north and west entrances and 10 feet from the east entrance.
The action falls short of a request made the previous week that would have made the block on which the courthouse and law enforcement center are located a smoke free campus.
Patty Anderson of Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council reported to the supervisors on the progress on a comprehensive plan for the county.
Input will be sought for the comprehensive plan at a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the courthouse. The meeting will focus on economic development and a vision statement for the county.
All interested citizens are invited to attend.
The meeting on Tuesday had a light agenda and the meeting next Tuesday will have an even lighter agenda. Canvasing the Nov. 8 election will be the only item on the agenda for Tuesday.
