Our Opinion: The outdoors is still out there

Monday, January 9, 2006

After a seemingly interminable number of overcast days, the sun finally was seen for a good part of the day in the Cherokee area on Wednesday.

Here at the Chronicle Times we are in favor of warm sunny days in the winter.

The sun drew people out for excursions and activities, alleviating the cabin fever that threatens people's grip on civility, if not sanity.

In the event that more winter-like weather returns to the area, we suggest people continue to get outside, even with overcast skies and chilly temperatures.

Break out of the routine of excessive television watching and video game playing. Just because we live in iowa doesn't mean we have to be sedantary for half the year.
