David Whited of the Marcus Fair Board updated the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors on the Marcus Fair during budget requests at the Tuesday meeting of the supervisors.
Whited said the main thing that they've been working on has been the Mount Pleasant Church which was moved to the Marcus Fair grounds. There is still work to be done at the church but it is ready for use and will be the location of a wedding in June when a couple will renew their vows.
It was noted that the setting for the church is natural making the church look like it belongs there.
Entertainment at the fair this year on Aug. 10-12 will include a hypnotist, country music and a church singing group. As always, fair goers will be able to get on the fair grounds free of charge.
"People really like not having a gate charge," Whited said.
The income for the past year totaled $63,480.
The supervisors approved the appointment of Lance Shafer and Lee Foresman to the Cherokee County Board of Adjustment. The board approved a salary adjustment for Jeff Friedrichsen, who has been a deputy sheriff for a year.
