An 8 ft. by 8 ft. cake to be baked and decorated by HyVee Bakery of Cherokee will make its debut at the Cherokee Depot on Friday, June 30.
The cake is being made to help celebrate Cherokee's 150th birthday. The birthday cake will be the focus of the final event of Family Night Activities.
The cake will be available for viewing and picture taking at a time to be announced at a later date. A platform will be installed so photographers can get up close. The candle representing 150 years will be lit and the audience will sing Happy Birthday. The cake will be cut and served to the first 1,500 cake eaters, including all of the kids at the free event.
The cake committee needs several volunteers to assist in crowd control and serving of the cake. Those interested in volunteering should call Galen Fliear at 225-0136.
