The book is a Sesquicentennial project of the Cherokee Area Archives and features photographic images of the 19th, 20th and even a few from the 21st century. Every town and area of the county is represented in the book. Events, buildings and other structures give the flavor of how the county developed.
"Everyone put a lot of effort in this project," said Pat Ellerbroek of the Cherokee Area Archives.
The research began in the winter of over a year ago and continued until the present year when the formatted pages were sent to the printer.
The books are a bargain at $18. They can be obtained at the Cherokee Area Archives located in the lower level of the Cherokee Library. The archives hours are 1:30 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
