Our Opinion: Keep an eye out for vandals

Monday, May 8, 2006

Destruction of signs on county roads is occurring at a regular basis, requiring the county to spend money that could otherwise pay for more constructive activities.

It would probably be pointless to suggest in this space that people refrain from destructive activities. Such juvenile actions suggests a mentality that is not receptive to logic and appeal to responsibility, although vandalism is often performed by people who are physically adults.

What we can do as citizens is not turn the other way when we see such actions. If we become aware of peers involved in such activities, we shouldn't simply laugh it off or ignore it.

Only when people figure out that vandalism is uncool will they stop doing it.
