Cub Scouts from Pack 107 in Cherokee are standing where what will be the new Aquatic Center/Gillette Park, of which, they will be frequent if not daily visitors. They recently unanimously voted to donate the proceeds from their pop can recycling efforts to the project.

For the last year HyVee Warehouse employees have been donating their empty pop cans and bottles to the pack. Every couple of months the boys get together and embark on the sticky task of separating the aluminum from the plastic prior to turning them in at Bill's Bottles and Cans. The end result was a $1,000 donation, which purchases a brick with Cub Scout Pack 107 imprinted on it.

The boys wanted a way to give back to the community that always supports them year round. When they are old and gray they will know that the brick on the wall was from their efforts and helped to support a project that meant a great deal to them and their community.
