Our Opinion: Here we go!

Annual celebrations make summer a fun time of the year. Technically, summer starts at the summer solstice on June 21, but what people think of as the start of summer is the end of the school year and that is what we refer to here.

Watermelon Days, the Cherokee County Fair, the Marcus Fair and (this year) the Sesquicentennial Celebration are just some of the celebrations the whole family can enjoy this summer.

Of course the start of the celebrations is the annual PRCA Rodeo, this year celebrating its 40th year. The rodeo will attract a record number of participants this year and be better than ever.

Summer is a great time to renew bonds with the family and this weekend is a great time to start.
