The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors approved purchase of nine security cameras with two servers for a cost of $12,030. Seven of the cameras will be in the courthouse and two cameras will supplement the cameras already at the Law Enforcement Center.
Staff at the courthouse will be able to monitor and review recordings from all nine cameras, including those at the LEC, but will not have access to cameras monitoring private areas of the jail.
Currently, there are no security cameras in the courthouse and there is no recording capability for the security cameras at the LEC. The upgrade at the LEC will include recording from all cameras but there will be limited access of the recordings of the cell areas.
The woek will be done by Network Vision of Marcus, owned by Chuck Nielsen. There is also a service contract for one year, to be reviewed at the end of the year.
