Zylstra Harley Davidson has closed its dealership in Cherokee this week.
Attempts to contact the company were deferred to a spokesman who did not return a call made to him.
The webite for the company had a letter posted stating that the site in Cherokee is permanently closing but the other locations are still open. There are Zylstra Harley Davidson dealerships in Ames, Elgin, Ill. and Elk River, Minn. There is another dealership under construction in Illinois. Customers at the Cherokee dealership who had outstanding business with the company were referred to the Ames dealership.
The 48,000 square foot building on Highway 59 that the dealership was located in opened in 2003. It is twice the size of the former dealership located across the highway, built in 1996, where a NAPA auto parts store is now located.
