"I'm really looking forward to working with the Community I've always been a people person. I've found if you spend just a little time listening to someone, you learn what it like to see the world through another person's eyes," he said.
Leckband was born in Cherokee, lived for a time in Minneapolis for three years and then attended Okoboji High School in Milford, graduating in 1991. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College at Estherville where he studied Journalism, and Mass Communication. He worked for Continental Deli Meats for eight years.
For the last seven years, Leckband has resided in Calumet and spends his free time with family and friends. He also enjoys camping on the weekends.
Leckband worked at Arnold's Park Amusement Park in the 1990's. "When you work for an Institution like Arnold's Park or the Chronicle Times, you're carrying a lot of history, I like to think that I'm carrying that history into the future," he said.
