SIOUX RAPIDS - The Pirates and Lady Pirates of Galva-Holstein ran well in cross country action at Sioux Central last week.
The Lady Pirates finished third in the team standings, and the boys came in fourth. Southeast Webster won the girls meet with a excellent score of 28 points. Southern Cal-RCL was second with 48, G-H had 58, and host Sioux Central 114. Alta, Laurens-Marathon, and Schaller-Crestland did not have enough runners to be in team standings.
Jayde Boyle, third, and Maddy McAreavy, sixth, had top 10 finishes for the Lady Pirates. Boyle's time was 17:31, while McAreavy ran in 18:38.
Other G-H times and placings were Sarah Lichter 11th, 19:04; Sam Grayson 18th, 21:19; Meagan Meyer 20th; 20:21; Sarah Forristal 26th; 21:57; and Sarah Reich 22:17, 28th.
The varsity boys were led by Caleb Egger, who finished third with a time of 18:16. John Harris finished sixth in 18:47, and the other G-H times and places were AJ Stevenson 12th, 19:27; Andrew Galvin 27th, 20:30; Steve Galvin 31st, 21:06; Kyle Conover 26th, 20:27; and Chris Wilson 37th, 21:58.
Junior varsity girls were represented by Sarah Galvin, Shelby Bennett, Kirstin Wessling, and Hannah Klotz, who finished second, third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, in the junior varsity placings. Their times were 23:04, 23:14, 23:56, and 25:32.
Ethan Todd was the only G-H JV boys' runner, and he placed 16th, in 26:29.
Middle School runner Ashley Drey finished first in a time of 15:16.
