Dorothy Zimmer-Christenson, 86, of Moose Lake, Minn., died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 in St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Minn.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and will continue Friday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
Dorothy was born Oct. 15, 1919 in Plymouth County, Iowa, to Joseph and Mary (Gangler) Nilles. Dorothy was united in marriage to Lorne Zimmer of Feb. 12, 1941 in Remsen and to George Christenson on May 16, 1992 in McGregor.
Dorothy was a former member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of Moose Lake and a member of Red Hats. She enjoyed playing cards. dice, cribbage, gardening, quilting, dancing, bowling, cooking and especially spending time with family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lorne Zimmer and George Christenson; one son, Robert "Bob" Zimmer; two brothers, Floyd and Edward Nilles.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carl Zimmer and his wife Sue, Paul Zimmer and his wife Sharon, Mary Kay Amundson and her husband Richard, Don Zimmer and his wife Lorrie, Dan Zimmer and his wife Deb, Lou Ann Barrett and Mark Zimmer; a sister, Rita Plendl; a brother, Walter Nilles; a brother-in-law, Floyd Zimmer; 20 grandchildren; and 22 grandchildren.
