Bulldogs sweep last home match

AURELIA- The Aurelia Bulldog volleyball team has nine senior players this season, and they played the final home match of their careers here on Tuesday night. Coach Tim Ireland started an all-senior rotation, asked his players to play their best volleyball, and "they all stepped it up," said a delighted Ireland.

The Bulldogs swept their Northwest Conference opponents, the Sac City Indians, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-18.

"It is always a fun night when you sweep," said Ireland.

Cassy Smith and Kristine Munden led the Bulldogs with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Christa Corderman had four blocks, Liz Laursen four ace serves, and Priscilla Otto and Corderman 34 and 25 sets, respectively.

Aurelia's record improved to 7-8 for the season, and they are now 3-3 in Northwest Conference play. The Bulldogs' next match is a non-conference meeting against Kingsley-Pierson at Kingsley on Monday night.

Aurelia also took the C team match, 22-20, 15-21, 15-11, and the junior varsity match, 21-10, 21-13, 15-6.
