Benefit for McDermott

A soup supper to benefit the Jerry McDermott family will be held at the Cherokee Middle School on Sunday. Oct. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. This benefit supper had been postponed because of the death of Jerry McDermott.

Jerry McDermott was the P.E. teacher at Cherokee Middle School and his wife, Beth, is the Spanish teacher at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn. Jerry McDermott was diagnosed with leukemia last March.

A free will offering will be accepted at the soup supper where a choice of chili, chicken noodle and vegetable beef will be available. Rolls and dessert bars will also be served. There will be coffee and drinks provided by Chesterman Bottling Co. HyVee Food Store will provide bowls and spoons.
