MARCUS - The South O'Brien Wolverines dropped the first two games of their volleyball match with Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn here on Thursday night, but stayed focused and played with intensity, coming back to win the match, three games to two. Wolverine coach Denise Erdmann said that her team had some missed serves, and other errors, in games one and two, but came back to play tough. Erdmann said it was a "nice way to end the regular season."
SOS also won at the JV and C levels, but the scores of those matches were not reported to the Chronicle Times.
The Wolverines were led in hitting by Jill Paulsen, with 11 kills. Paulsen also led the team with five blocks. Carrie Egdorf, Chelsey Ebel, and Reagan Ebel were all credited with 20+ digs for the SOS team.
Coach Erdmann said she was proud of the team. "Now," she said, "it's time to focus on district play."
South O' Brien, with a season record of 5-17 and conference mark of 4-5, begins district play on Tuesday, against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. Game time is 7 p.m. at Hartley.
