Rosetta Riedemann
Rosetta Rosie Riedemann, 92, of Remsen, died Nov. 2 at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Visitation was at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation resumed today at 9a.m. until service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m.

Riedemann was born to Albert and Metha (Brinckmann) Meyer on Feb. 25, 1914 in Granville. Riedemann was raised in the Granville area and received her education in the rural school system. She then did domestic work in the Granville area.

On May 29, 1935, she married Vernon Riedemann in Paullina. They made their home near Granville where they were engaged in farming. They moved to rural Cherokee in 1942, then back to rural Paullina in 1944, and in 1945 to a farm south of Remsen.

In 1971 they retired from farming and moved into Remsen. Vernon died March 13, 1992. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since Sept. 6, 2006.

Riedemann was an active member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Paul WELCA, and also Post 3328 Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was an active community volunteer which included helping with meals on wheels and in transporting people to their appointments. She was named Remsen Citizen of the Year in 2002. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and doing word search puzzles.

Riedemann is survived by two sons and their wives, Wendell and Caryn, Richard and Mary; one daughter, Judy and her husband Robert Gotto, all of Remsen; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one sister, Vera Dau of Sutherland, and one sister-in-law, Emily Meyer, of Paullina.

Riedemann was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gordon; sister, Mabel Dau and her husband Elvin; brothers, Clarence Meyer and Herbert Meyer and his wife Leona, and brother-in-law, Delbert Dau.

Casket bearers were Steven, Robert, Donald and Kevin Riedemann, Jeffery, Chad and Todd Gotto.
