Cherokee native wins librarian award

Jeri Held
Jerri Heid, Youth Services Specialist at Ames Public Library, received the Quality Time Award from the Youth Services Subdivision of the Iowa Library Association at the fall conference in October.

The Quality Time Award is given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to library service to young people on a regional, state-wide, or national level.

Jerri Heid became the Youth Services Specialist for the Ames Public Library in March of 2005. Before that, she served as Children's Librarian at the Cherokee Public Library and Youth Services Librarian at the Clive Public Library.

At the Ames Public Library, Heid selects books and materials for the Library's collection; presents storytimes, workshops, and other programs; and works with the APL Teen Advisory Group. She is also a member of the BabyTalk Board, Morning Rotary, Story County Empowerment Board, Iowa Youth Services Advisory Council, Iowa Library Association, Public Library Association, American Library Association, and Young Adult Library Services Association.
