WHS, G-H grads excel in football for Morningside

SIOUX CITY - Senior linebacker Drew Hahn, a 5-11, 220 pound Cherokee Washington High graduate, and junior free safety Chad Hustedt, a 6-2, 190 pound Galva-Holstein graduate, were among six Morningside Mustang football players named to the All-Great Plains Area Conference first team, selected by the league members' head coaches.

Hustedt, a repeat selection from last season, led the Mustang defenders in tackles for the second consecutive season, with 51 solo stops and 33 assists, for a total of 84 tackles. He also led the team with three forced fumbles, and was among team leaders with seven pass breakups, five interceptions, and two quarterback sacks. The fleet Hustedt averaged 28.8 yards on each of his interception returns.

Hahn was the Mustangs' third leading tackler this season- making 20 solo tackles and 37 assists, for a total of 57 tackles. Included in this total were six stops behind the line of scrimmage, for a total loss of 15 yards.

Other Mustangs first-team selections included linebacker E.J. Infanger, named to the first team for the third year in a row; defensive lineman James Mowrey; offensive lineman Shawn Robinson, a second-time pick; and wide receiver Cody Jaminet.

The NAIA-playoff-bound Mustangs also landed two players, running back Nick Reigle and offensive lineman Matt Butler, on the all-conference second team, and eight players on the honorable mention list.
