Area gridders make All-District

Playoff qualifier G-H lands 6 on first team

Several players from Galva-Holstein, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and River Valley were named to the Class A District One All-District football team recently.

First team selections from Galva-Holstein included linebacker Austin Todd, defensive back Adrian Tracy, defensive lineman Daniel Borchers , running back Bryce Dean, defensive back Elijah Miller, and running back Tanner Gebers. All are seniors, except for Gebers, who is a junior.

M-M-C had five first-team selections, all seniors. Eagles selected were running back Kevin Leavitt, linebacker Kyle Kohn, linebacker/tight end Nate Dammann, offensive lineman Steven Wetherell, and defensive back Tim Holmes.

The River Valley Wolverines were represented on the first team by senior defensive lineman Matthew Lundt.

Second team selections from Galva-Holstein were Sean Hurst, a senior defensive lineman, and Adam Dreeszen and Ben Andresen, both junior offensive linemen.

MMC had senior defensive back Mitch Erdman, senior offensive lineman Chad Alesch, and junior defensive lineman Tucker Petersen on the second team.

River Valley selections were senior cornerback Andy Paulsen and junior linebacker Tyler Clark.

Galva-Holstein senior running back Aaron Drury and offensive lineman Mark Cronin, a sophomore, received honorable mention for the All-District team, as did MMC's senior offensive lineman Joe Wilcox and sophomore defensive lineman Jordan Petersen, and River Valley senior defensive lineman Ross Baldwin and junior running back Ethan Byers.

Woodbury Central's Kelly Manker was named the Head Coach of the All-District team, and Galva-Holstein's Brian Winkler was selected as one of the two assistant coaches.
