The South O'Brien Wolverines have hit the basketball court twice this season, playing at Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday, and at Alta on Monday.
At Sibley, the Wolverines "came out and played a tough first quarter, and then seemed to get out of our offense," said co-head coach Julie Paulsen.
"We had a hard time defending their height, but I'm proud of the girls for playing hard all game."
The final score was Sibley-Ocheydan 58, SOS 37.
South O'Brien scoring was led by Chelsea Tesch, Chelsie Rohrs, and Jill Paulsen, all of whom tallied eight points.
At Alta Monday night, SOS again came out tough in the first quarter, but "let our guard down in the second quarter and gave up too many points on turnovers," said coach Paulsen. "We got into foul trouble early, which took us out of our game plan. We were within five in the fourth quarter, but we had to battle from too far down to create the win."
In conclusion, Coach Paulsen siad, "These girls have a strong desire to improve and they work hard every day. I am proud of the girls for playing hard and not giving up." Final score of the game was Alta 54, South O'Brien 47, and the Wolverine scoring was led by Reagan Ebel, who had 16 points. Jill Paulsen and Carrie Egdorf both scored 10 points for South O'Brien, which is coached by Paulsen and Dana Vige.
South O'Brien's next contest will be another road game, at Spencer, on Friday night, They open the home season at Paullina the following night against Sheldon.
