Aurelia girls look good in win

RUTHVEN- The Aurelia Bulldog girls played well offensively and defensively in taking a non-conference contest here Tuesday night against Ruthven-Ayrshire, 55-26. Aurelia Coach Marv Munden was very pleased with the balanced scoring attack his team showed, as Leah Kai, Emily Sonksen, and Kristine Munden scored 14, 13, and 12 points, respectively. Sonksen and Kai had four assists apiece for Aurelia, and Kai also had four steals on dfense.

Munden said his team did a good job of making Ruthven-Ayrshire take tough shots. He also had high praise for junior Kaitlin Sandine, who came off the bench to score eight points and grab five rebounds.

Aurelia made 24 of 54 shots from the field, and sank 7 of 8 from the line.

Ruthven-Ayrshire was led by Lynn Geelau, who scored 16 points.

The Bulldogs are now 2-0 in non-conference games, and start their Northwest Conference slate with a game against Newell-Fonda at Newell on Friday night.
