Disappointing MVC opener for RV boys

CORRECTIONVILLE- River Valley coach Dean Norris called his team's effort against Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto here Friday night "disappointing."

The Wolverines were beaten by MVAO, 70-39 in Maple Valley Conference boys basketball action. Turnovers continued to be a problem for the home team, as the Wolverines committed 17 of them.

River Valley got down early and trailed throughout the game, with quarter scoresof 14-4, 31-15, and 46-23.

Pat Parcel led River Valley scoring with 18 points , on six of nine two-point field goal shooting and 2-6 from behind the three-point arc. Zach Hullinger and Matt Simons both tallied five points.

Simons also had three steals and Parcel dished out five assists. Hullinger and Anthony Volkert grabbed six rebounds apiece to lead the team in that category.

River Valley plays Remsen-Union at Correctionville Friday night.
