Graham's 20 points lead Wolverines

CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley Wolverines held a 21-8 lead after one quarter here last week in a Maple Valley Conference girls basketball game with Galva-Holstein. The Lady Pirates crept back into the game, narrowing the margin to six points at the half, and were still down by just eight points, 54-46, heading into the final period. In that final quarter, though, the Wolverines dominated once again, outscoring the young G-H squad 20-7, to take the game, 64-43.

Galva-Holstein shot just 25 percent from the line in the game (3 for 12), and were 19-53 (36 percent) from the field, in contrast to the Wolverines' 26-54 (48 percent).

Brandi Wagoner led the Lady Pirates' scoring with 15 points, and Heather and Lindsey Joslin each scored seven.

Sam Grayson and Victoria Andresen led the rebounding with five apiece, and both blocked a shot. Wagoner also blocked two Wolverine shots.

The G-H girls were victimized by a whopping 27 turnovers, while River Valley recorded 20.

River Valley had a balanced scoring attack , with Marissa Graham scoring 20 points,

Emily Todd 14, Alissa Slota 13, and Amanda Mahrt nine.

Graham also led RV on the boards with six rebounds, while Todd grabbed five, and Slota and Mahrt four apiece. Graham and Mahrt also had two steals each.
