KINGSLEY - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn grapplers finished third in the team race at the recent Kingsley-Pierson Wrestling Invitational here, won by Woodbury Central with 203 team points.
Lawton-Bronson was second with 155, followed by MMC 152, Jefferson-Scranton-Paton-Churdan (JSPC) 110, Kingsley-Pierson 97.5, Cherokee 91.5, George-Little Rock 81, Alta 79, Hull Western Christian 74, and Westwood 0.
The MMC Eagles crowned three champions, with Mitch Erdmann winning at 125 pounds, Russ Godbersen winning at 135, and Tory Johnson winning at 140.
Erdman decisioned Josh Benson of L-B 3-2 to win his title, Godbersen beat Scott Robbins of Alta 6-2 for his crown, and Johnson beat Todd Linden of HWC 12-6 in the finals.
Dan Holmes of MMC placed third at heavyweight, winning his consolation match with a 2:53 fall over Morgan Van Houton of Alta. Jared Letsche of MMC also placed third at 160 with a 12-3 major decision over Brett Westra of HWC.
Other Eagle place-winners included Blaine Dammann fifth at 130 pounds with a 2-0 decision over Ryan Sawyer of Alta, Ben Mayer fifth at 145 with a 25-second pin over Kasey Sievers of Alta, and Kyle Kohn fifth at 171 with a 13-second pin over Greg Miller of Cherokee.
Luke Dreckman finished sixth at 215 pounds for the Eagles.
