Corky Anderson, 62, of Cherokee, died Thursday Jan. 25, 2007, at the Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services were held January 29 at 10:30 A.M. at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee. Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee.

Anderson was born February 11, 1944 in Cherokee to Howard and Georgia (Coe) Anderson. He attended school in Cherokee, graduating from Washington high School in 1963. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1963-1964.

He married Patricia Ferrin in 1965. They divorced in 1975. He attended Iowa Lakes in Estherville, and later the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. In 1982 he married Nancy D. George and they divorced in 1988.

He was a well known figure in Cherokee, usually in his yellow tee shirt and white shorts, often with a flowing white beard. He did many kind deeds for neighbors and friends and loved to visit with people.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Anderson, of Correctionville; an uncle, Donald Johnson, of Cherokee; cousins, Carol and Marvin Peterson; Carl and Anita Anderson; Larry and Sue Anderson; Dy Anne Broveak; Kathy Sexton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Micah, on January 7, 1970.
