Roger A. Fry

Roger A. Fry, 59, rural Alta, died Sunday March 4, 2007, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a sudden heart attack. Services were held Thursday March 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, with Rev. Kathy Wicks officiating. Burial was at the High Lake Cemetery, rural Wallingford, Iowa. Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia was in charge of arrangements.

Roger A. Fry was born October 27, 1947, the son of Ray A. and Pearl (Ananonson) Fry. He graduated from Ringsted Community High School in 1965, and attended Iowa Lakes Community College for one year.

On July 21, 1979, he married Susan Peiffer at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville. He farmed his entire working life, and raised both hogs and cattle for many years in Emmet County before moving to the Storm Lake area. He also worked on a seasonal basis for PSA, north of Alta.

Roger enjoyed searching for, and researching, antiques. He was a student of all types of history, and also enjoyed the outdoors. He was an active hunter as a young man, and an observer of wildlife in later years. Roger was a cowboy at heart.

Fry is survived by his wife Susan, of Alta; his mother, Pearl Fry of Gruver, Iowa; a sister, Joleen, and her husband Frank Schieffer of Omaha; a brother Marlyn and his wife Patty Fry of Estherville; several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray, and a sister-in-law, Ann Peiffer Genkinger.
