Erdman, Johnson earn team's Iron Man Award

GERMANTOWN - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Wrestling team held its annual Awards Banquet Sunday at a catered meal in Germantown.

Seniors Mitch Erdman and Tory Johnson both received the school's "Iron Man" award, becoming the sixth and seventh MMC wrestlers in history to be so honored.

To earn this award, a wrestler must wrestle every match through all four years of high school, be academically eligible all four years, and have no violations of the MMC Code of Conduct throughout his wrestling career.

Erdman, a three-time state qualfier, registered 143 wins in his career, and was also named the squad's Most Valuable member. Johnson, winner of 122 career matches, also received the "Most Flamboyant" award.

Statistical leaders for the 2006-2007 season were: Most wins - Erdman and Russ Godberson, 38 each; Most falls - Erdman and Johnson, 21 each; Most takedowns -Erdman, 52; Most reversals - Jared Letsche, 25; Most near fall 2 - Letsche, 15; Most near fall 3 -Johnson, 21; Most escapes -Johnson, 37.

Other award winners: Lettermen- Todd Godberson, Kyle Kohn, Erdman, Johnson, Jacob Lehnhoff, Letsche, Blaine Dammann, Ben Mayer, Tucker Petersen, Dan Holmes, Luke Dreckman, Ethan Radke, Taylor Witzel, and Russ Godberson.
