Eldon Lee Larsen age 81, of Estherville, and formerly from the Primghar and Cherokee areas, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. Services were held Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Primghar, with the Rev. S. Kim Peterson officiating.

Burial was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, with a Military Graveside Services by the Chateau-Thierry Post #36 of the American Legion in Primghar.

Larsen was born in Primghar on Nov. 22, 1925 to Peter and Gladys Adelaide (Pingrey) Larsen. He received his education in the Primghar School System, and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1952, during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service,Larsen returned to the Primghar area, and was united in marriage to Margaret Miles on June 13, 1954 in Cherokee. The couple made their home in Cherokee..

Eldon worked Kenneth Maurer Construction, hauling gravel; farmed southwest of Paullina; and also worked as a security guard for Vortec Kolberg of Yankton, S.D., before retiring in 1990.

Eldon had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville before moving to the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown in Dec. of 2006.

He was of the Lutheran Faith, and greatly enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Larsen of Estherville; two daughters, Betty and her husband, Jay Drury of Estherville; Susan and her husband, Jerry Copatach of Ferron, Utah; three grandchildren, David Stevenson; Jacob Young and Brandi Young; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Justin Young, and an infant sister, Betty Elaine Larsen.
